As long as [the US] offers support to terrorists in some way, they will be their partner… The US are against me, the West is against me, numerous regional powers and countries are against me, if the people were also against me, then how could I still be in my position?
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad when asked if the U.S. is partially responsible for innocent civilian deaths in Syria. Assad also claimed in an interview with German TV that ‘terrorists’ from outside Syria and rebel ‘gangs’ are largely responsible for civilian deaths not security forces. (via BBC)
