Kofi Annan after meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Monday said they had agreed to an “approach” to end Syria’s ongoing conflict that he will present to the opposition. Annan wants Iran and all other parties that could influence Assad involved in future negotiations despite the U.S.’ continued resistance. Russia has reportedly agreed to not sign any new weapons contracts while fighting continues though it will deliver those already purchased. (story)
