On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson implied that the FBI intentionally sat on information regarding General David Petraeus’ extramarital affair until after the election. Her colleague from across the aisle, Senator Barney Frank (D-MA), fired back.

“Are you suggesting there was some cover-up, that the FBI are playing games? I think we ought to be explicit about this. I’m troubled by the implication of your statement and are you suggesting that something wasn’t legitimate here? Because that would trouble me.”

The reason we have such a dismal record here is not because they are lazy, our Republican colleagues. It’s more because of a word that rhymes with lazy, which the House rules will prohibit me from using… It is an extremism. It’s not laziness, it is extremism that grips the Republican Party so they are not able to discharge the normal functions of government.

I wish Myth Romney had been governor of the state I lived in. If it had been Myth Romney I’d probably be riding the commuter train from Bedford to Boston right now. But, we had Mitt Romney so we had to wait for the great Deval Patrick to get that started.

Representative Barney Frank and longtime partner, Jim Ready, were married Saturday by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick in front of guests including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senator John Kerry.

They had long discussions about marriage; Mr. Frank wanted to be married while still serving in Washington. Mr. Ready was worried about the public scrutiny. But he remembered how he felt in high school in Tewksbury, Mass., when Mr. Frank came out publicly.
“The kids that are going to see us, and feel strong enough to be able to come out and be who they are. That gives me more encouragement that I’m doing the right thing,” he said. (via NYT)
