While many were never going to look past my 2002 vote no matter what I did or said, I should have stated my regret sooner and in the plainest, most direct language possible. I’d gone most of the way there by saying I regretted the way President Bush used his authority and by saying that if we knew then what we later learned, there wouldn’t have been a vote. But I held out against using the word mistake. It wasn’t because of political expediency. After all, primary voters and the press were clamoring for me to say that word. When I voted to authorize force in 2002, I said that is was “probably the hardest decision I have ever had to make.” I thought I had acted in good faith and made the best decision I could with the information I had. And I wasn’t alone in getting it wrong. But I still got it wrong. Plain and simple.

We tortured some folks.
President Obama speaking from the White House today, acknowledging the CIA’s use of brutal interrogation tactics in the years after the Sept. 11 attack. It’s not the first time Obama has used the word “torture” to describe the tactics used at CIA-run secret prisons during the Bush administration, but his words today were more direct than previous statements. Any time something is new, there is going to be some glitches. All of us, when our children were new, well, we knew as parents we didn’t exactly know everything we were doing and we had a foul-up or two, but we persevered and our children turned out well. No matter what one does in life, when it is something new in learning the ropes of it, it is going to take a little adjustment.

Fox “News” has George W. Bush’s opinion on Syria.

Because obviously he’s the first person we should consult with before entering into a foreign conflict.
